Description |
This Bobby Hat was donated by William Smith of Staffordshire, England Fire Department to the APCO Historical Museum during the Detroit Annual APCO Conference. He also donated other memorabilia from Staffordshire and was a strong supporter of the Museum. Also known as a custodian helmet, the hat was first adopted by the London Metropolitan Police in 1863 to replace the "stovepipe" top hat worn since 1829. |
